Interactive Kinetic Tower in Shenzhen Engages Public Through Collective Movement

architecture-design · 2026-03-19

Daxing Jizi Design has created Twirl Tower, a public kinetic installation at OCT-LOFT in Shenzhen, China, for the 2026 Super New Year event. The structure features stacked, cake-like layers that rotate when visitors turn its circular base, with gears transferring motion upward through alternating directions. The project includes accompanying Twirl Chairs that extend the design's visual language into seating areas. The installation emphasizes collective participation, requiring multiple people to operate it effectively, fostering spontaneous synchronization among strangers and transforming public space through shared interaction.
