Insta360 Teams with Shark Photographers for Conservation Campaign

In celebration of Shark Awareness Day on July 14, Insta360 unveiled a collaborative video featuring conservationists and photographers such as ZimyDaKid, Ari Rabin-Havt, Roy Mauritsen, and Andy Casagrande IV. This initiative employs Insta360 cameras to provide immersive views of sharks, with the goal of altering public perceptions and promoting conservation efforts. Ari Rabin-Havt, who transitioned from political work to shark photography, recalls a life-changing cage dive with Galapagos sharks in Hawaii 18 years prior. He believes photography can transform fear into admiration, referencing the regrets of Steven Spielberg and Peter Benchley regarding 'Jaws.' Using a Canon EOS R5 II in Nauticam housing and an Insta360 X5, he captured images from within a shark's mouth. On August 2, 2026, Insta360 and the PADI AWARE Foundation will introduce the PADI AWARE Shark and Ray Discovery Challenge, encouraging divers to report sightings for the Global Shark and Ray Census. Dr. Andrew Chin of James Cook University highlights the scientific importance of divers' footage.
