Ingram and PRH Launch Print-On-Demand Program for Libraries
Ingram Library Services has teamed up with Penguin Random House to launch a print-on-demand project that offers 200 backlist titles from well-known authors like Harlan Coben, Janet Evanovich, and others. This initiative, powered by Lightning Source, aims to address the lack of popular hardcover books in libraries. Carolyn Morris, the VP of Ingram Library Services, mentioned that they'll be displaying samples at the American Library Association conference in Chicago starting June 26. While it begins with PRH, the program is open to all publishers and may later involve bookstores. The POD system allows for quick production and shipping, which is great since ILS has facilities in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and on the West Coast. The program also targets gaps in classic children's literature and large-print books.
