Influencer Fined $20,000 for Refusing to Remove Intimate Video of Woman

Sherif Elbishlawi, known online as @vibr0phone, has been ordered to pay 20,000 Canadian dollars ($14,200) by British Columbia’s Civil Resolution Tribunal for repeatedly posting intimate images of a woman identified only as Z.D. Elbishlawi, who has over 100,000 Instagram followers, is known for videos where he lifts women and exposes their bottoms. Z.D. initially agreed to be lifted outside a nightclub but later asked him to remove the video. Elbishlawi ignored her requests, reportedly stating, “I don’t do favours for strangers,” and insisted on meeting in person. Meta removed the video and suspended his accounts, but he created new ones and reposted it. Tribunal member Maria Montgomery found his conduct “troubling” and “exploitative,” noting he may have generated revenue via a paywalled site. The award included 10,000 CAD for pain and suffering, 5,000 CAD for aggravated damages due to his conduct, and 5,000 CAD in punitive damages for reposting and potential profit. Montgomery wrote that his behavior “markedly departs from ordinary standards of decent behaviour.”
