In Kyoung Chun's 'Make Room' Exhibition Explores Belonging Through Painting and Installation at Halsey Institute

The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art is currently showcasing Kyoung Chun's exhibition titled 'Make Room,' which delves into themes of home and belonging via interactive installations and paintings. Chun, originally from Seoul and now residing in Atlanta, employs transparent houses and hanging structures as symbols of inclusive communities. The exhibition features works like 'Scented Creek Near My Place' (2023), 'Mirrored House' (2023), and 'Narrow Path' (2025). Her artwork has been exhibited in numerous locations and is part of collections, including the High Museum of Art. A finalist for the 2025 Atlanta Artadia Award, Chun also completed a residency at Atlanta Contemporary. 'Make Room' is open until July 25, 2026, supported by the South Carolina Arts Commission and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund.
