IKEA Presents 'Food for Thought' Exhibition at Milan's FuoriSalone 2026 Design Week

IKEA will participate in Milan's FuoriSalone 2026 design week with an exhibition titled 'Food for Thought,' exploring the intersection of food, conviviality, and design. The Swedish company has relocated its event from the Tortona district to the Porta Venezia area after four years in the previous location. The exhibition will run from April 21st to 26th at Spazio Maiocchi (Via Maiocchi, 7) in the Porta Venezia district. The initiative examines evolving food-related rituals and presents IKEA's new collection through immersive settings created in collaboration with internationally recognized designers and chefs. The exhibition features interactive installations that reflect changing practices around cooking, eating, and social gatherings, including a large kitchen area and a reinterpretation of a traditional Swedish covered market (saluhall) co-created with architect Midori Hasuike and spatial designer Emerzon. The program includes live cooking demonstrations, talks, and meetings that explore the relationship between democratic design principles and culinary culture. The event represents a continuation of IKEA's engagement with design trends and innovation during Milan's annual design week, offering both reflection on contemporary life and practical inspiration through product presentations.
