Igor Levit Launches No Silence Label with Sony Music
Pianist Igor Levit has established a new record label named No Silence in partnership with Sony Music, under the banner of Sony Classical. This initiative arose following antisemitic backlash Levit encountered after his October 7 concert, “Against Silence, Against Anti-Semitism,” which responded to the Hamas attack on Israel. Levit declared that No Silence symbolizes a commitment to courage and humanity while opposing extremism. The inaugural releases are set for October 23, showcasing Levit performing Liszt’s adaptation of Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony alongside Schoenberg’s Ode to Napoleon, and Satie’s lengthy Vexations. Additionally, works by his student Lukas Sternath will be featured.
