ICP and Damiani Reissue Robert Capa's 1938 Landmark 'Death in the Making'
The International Center of Photography (ICP) has teamed up with Damiani to release a new edition of Robert Capa's Death in the Making, which first appeared in 1938. Cynthia Young, who directs the Robert Capa and Cornell Capa Archive at ICP, remarked on the rarity and high cost of the original edition. Featuring Capa's iconic Falling Soldier on its cover, the book presents a biased perspective on the Spanish Republicans' battle against fascism, aiming to rally global support for their cause. Unlike the original, which lacked captions and credits despite contributions from Capa, Gerda Taro, and David Seymour, the new edition includes a checklist of researched attributions and captions to honor those who resisted Franco's regime.
