Huawei weighs Ascend AI chip deployment in Latin America

According to Mark Chen, president of Huawei Cloud Latin America, the company is considering the introduction of its latest Ascend artificial intelligence chips in cloud and AI services throughout Latin America. This announcement was made during a private interview with the South China Morning Post following Chen's talk at the Rio Web Summit in Brazil. The Ascend processors play a crucial role in China's initiative to establish a self-sufficient AI sector and lessen reliance on American technology. Chen did not specify a timeline, mentioning that the Ascend 950 series is still in the initial deployment phase in China. Huawei launched the first chip, the 950PR, in March, along with the Atlas 350 computing cluster, and companies like Alibaba, ByteDance, and DeepSeek have already integrated the chip.
