Huawei's AI Monitoring Systems Accelerate Wildlife Conservation Across Three Continents

Through its Tech4Nature initiative, Huawei Technologies is utilizing AI-driven monitoring systems to bolster wildlife conservation efforts. In the Guangxi Chongzuo White-headed Langur National Nature Reserve, AI models have successfully identified the critically endangered white-headed langur in real time, achieving more than 37,200 identifications since 2024. This technology, created in partnership with the China-Asean Artificial Intelligence Computing Center, helps track fewer than 1,400 langurs that face threats from hunting and habitat destruction. In Norway, similar AI technology accurately differentiates native Atlantic salmon from invasive species with over 99% precision. Additionally, in collaboration with Xiamen University, Huawei's AI can identify 60 coral and 74 fish species with an accuracy of 83%. Since 2019, Huawei's initiatives have protected Bonelli's eagles in Spain and jaguars in Mexico across 65 regions, while also promoting rural development in Guangxi.
