Huang Cheng Yuan's Cosmic Light at Florence's Accademia delle Arti del Disegno

The Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence is hosting 'In the year of light', a solo exhibition by Taiwanese painter and poet Huang Cheng Yuan, from September 4 to September 29, 2026. The vernissage takes place on September 4 at 5:30 PM. Curated by art historian Daniela Pronestì and organized by King Space Gallery, the show is held at the Sala delle Esposizioni on Via Ricasoli 68R. Admission is free, with opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday (10 AM–1 PM and 5–7 PM) and Sunday (10 AM–1 PM); closed on Mondays. Born in 1968 in Shih Fen, Tainan County, Huang Cheng Yuan studied at the Taiwan National Art College, graduating in 1991, and later attended Fontbonne College in Missouri, where his encounter with Western aesthetics and philosophy deeply reshaped his visual language. Initially described by the artist as 'wild, energetic, and colorful', his painting has progressively embraced a more contemplative approach, focusing on cosmic light and meditative abstraction. The exhibition promises to offer a unique perspective within the contemporary international art scene, highlighting the artist's evolution from expressive vigor to a refined, luminous stillness.
