Hu Yinping's Collective Art Projects Featured in Hong Kong Exhibitions

Beijing artist Hu Yinping is presenting three works in Hong Kong this March. At Tai Kwun Contemporary, her piece 'CV' features crocheted résumés by members of the Hu Xiaofang collective, a group of rural Chinese women who create textile works. 'Soul Bottles' is displayed at the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile, while 'Potatoes Grow on Trees' appears in Art Basel Hong Kong's Encounters sector. Hu Yinping established Hu Xiaofang over a decade ago as a semi-fictional enterprise that provides economic support through craft labor. The collective produces various woolen items and redistributes income to women whose labor has often been overlooked. The artist's practice explores themes of invisible work, corporate structures, and community visibility across different exhibition contexts.
