House of Monitors: A Toronto Residence Choreographing Light and Materiality

The House of Monitors, designed by Toronto's architectural firm Williamson Williamson, is a 4,175-square-foot residence scheduled for completion in 2024. The design, crafted in partnership with its owners—an artist from the National Ballet of Canada and a containment engineer—explores innovative uses of light and building materials. The structure features framing techniques, sectional alterations, and layered environments to enhance material appreciation and create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas. Led by principal architect Betsy Williamson, the team includes Shane Williamson and Sonia Ramundi, with engineering support from Blackwell Engineering and project management by Ripple Projects.
