Hong Kong Ballet to Move to City's First Dedicated Dance Venue in 2027
Hong Kong Ballet will relocate to Dancehouse at the WestK Performing Arts Centre in 2027, marking the city's first purpose-built dance venue. The company will leave the government-run Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui after 16 years. The move enables a more than 40 per cent increase in performance weeks annually, according to the group. The announcement follows December's news that the flagship ballet company would depart the Cultural Centre, which raised concerns about the troupe being left without a suitable home. In an interview with the South China Morning Post before the announcement, artistic director Septime Webre expressed relief at finally being able to reveal the move. The WestK Performing Arts Centre is nearing completion.
