Hokusai's Complete Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji to Debut in UK at Dulwich Picture Gallery

exhibition · 2026-08-29

Dulwich Picture Gallery in London will host a landmark exhibition in winter 2026, presenting the complete series of Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (c.1830-33) for the first time in the UK. The series, seldom exhibited in its entirety outside Japan, will be shown alongside unique print variants. A rare blue impression of Clear Day with a Southern Breeze, known as Blue Fuji, will be a highlight, with only about ten comparable impressions known to survive. Three well-preserved impressions of Under the Wave off Kanagawa, popularly called The Great Wave, will also be featured, allowing visitors to compare subtle printing variations.
