HMKV Exhibition Explores Solar Influence on History and Politics

The group exhibition 'Genossin Sonne (Comrade Sun)' at HMKV in Dortmund examines connections between solar activity and socio-political movements. Inspired by Russian biophysicist Alexander Chizhevsky's century-old theory linking sunspot cycles to historical events like revolutions, the show features works by multiple artists. These include Anton Vidokle's film exploring Russian Cosmism, DISNOVATION.ORG's projects on solar-based economies, Ho Rui An's critique of colonialism, and Gwenola Wagon's dystopian AI narrative. The exhibition, presented in collaboration with Kunsthalle Wien and Wiener Festwochen, runs until January 18, 2026.
