Hew Locke retrospective to tour US, opening in Houston

From June 21 to September 13, 2026, Houston's Museum of Fine Arts will present 'Hew Locke: Passages,' showcasing the most extensive collection of the artist's work to date. The exhibition will feature more than 40 pieces, including sculptures, collages, and assemblages that examine themes of colonialism, global commerce, migration, and cultural displacement. Notable works include Locke's charcoal drawings titled Infanta from 1998. The artist utilizes found objects and recognizable imagery to weave compelling stories that reflect on the influence of historical events on contemporary life. Following its Houston debut, the exhibition is scheduled to travel to additional venues nationwide.
