Hessel Museum Presents Betty Parsons Retrospective and Two Summer Shows

At Bard College's Center for Curatorial Studies, the Hessel Museum of Art has launched three significant summer exhibitions. The highlight is "Betty Parsons: An Expanded World," marking the first extensive retrospective that delves into the dual legacy of Betty Parsons (1900–1982) as both a groundbreaking abstract artist and an influential gallerist who impacted 20th-century American art. Renowned for promoting the American avant-garde by fostering the careers of artists like Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko, and Jackson Pollock, Parsons also pursued her own artistic endeavors throughout her life. This exhibition showcases around 80 pieces, including paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, sourced from various public and private collections. The other two exhibitions remain unspecified.
