Hermès Atelier Horizons Showcases Bespoke Luxury Objects in New York Installation

Hermès' bespoke division, Atelier Horizons, unveiled its latest collection through an installation at the brand's New York store on 706 Madison Avenue, open until April 25. The event attracted a crowd of Birkin and Kelly bag enthusiasts on Tuesday night, featuring unique items like an Easter-egg toned foosball table, neon-lit jukebox motifs, horse-adorned surfboards, Clémence leather basketballs with the H logo, and skateboards designed by Quentin Monge with beach-hued tributes to the American West. Artistic director Axel de Beaufort emphasized that functionality was as crucial as form, noting the foosball table was tested by the world champion of table football. Inspiration for the collection drew from four concepts: movement, picnic, sound, and play. Craftsmanship from Hermès' nearly 200-year history informed details such as wetsuits based on 1930s sportswear, a ping pong table with a silk net using a Kelly bag clasp, and bicycles in mint green and muted pink with Spad calfskin and lacquered ash wood. Items showcased tactile precision, including Pippa cowhide-lined headphones, trunks with smooth drawers, and leather with even topstitching akin to the brand's coveted bags. Meticulous details included jewelry trunks with magnetized ring holders and cocktail trunks with leather tabs for stemware. The installation demonstrated Hermès' ability to produce custom, artwork-quality objects for select clientele, blending luxury with practicality.
