Heather Ferrell Appointed as Collections and Exhibitions Curator at Fleming Museum

The Fleming Museum of Art at the University of Vermont has appointed Heather Ferrell to the position of Curator of Collections and Exhibitions. Ferrell, who possesses more than three decades of expertise in curatorial work, collections oversight, and arts administration, is recognized as an influential arts leader and a dedicated advocate for artists based in Vermont. Her official start date at the museum is set for April 27, 2026. Sonja Lunde, the Executive Director of the Fleming Museum, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, noting that Ferrell's combination of extensive experience, preparedness, and reflective approach will significantly benefit the institution. Lunde anticipates that Ferrell's innovative perspective and focus on contemporary art will enhance the museum's holdings and create fresh opportunities for visitor engagement. In addition to her new role, Ferrell serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Vermont, where she instructs certain museum studies courses. Her professional background includes early experience at a university museum, specifically the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art located at Utah State University.
