Hatton Gallery Print Collection Overview and Featured Works

The Hatton Gallery holds a permanent collection of over 3,300 artworks, including approximately 1,300 prints acquired over more than a century. The prints span from the Renaissance to the present, with notable examples by artists such as Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Thomas Bewick, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Antoni Tàpies, and Paula Rego. An exhibition planned for summer 2020 to showcase a large group of prints was postponed due to external circumstances. The gallery aims to reopen in autumn 2020, pending safety preparations. The collection highlights western printmaking techniques and historical significance, with works ranging from etchings to wood engravings and lithographs.
