Hangar's Longitudes Residency in Lisbon Seeks Multidisciplinary Applicants

Hangar – Centro de Investigação Artística has launched an open call for its Longitudes Residency program in Lisbon, Portugal. The initiative invites practitioners from various creative fields including visual artists, writers, curators, researchers, and musicians to apply for residencies lasting between one and three months. Located in Lisbon's Graça neighborhood, the program emphasizes a non-prescriptive, process-driven approach that encourages participants to develop projects inspired by their surroundings or to conduct research drawing on Lisbon's cultural context. The residency focuses on interdisciplinary practices with particular attention to cross-cultural connections and explorations of postcolonial and diasporic experiences, histories, and memory. Selected participants will receive accommodation and shared workspace, along with access to Hangar's facilities. The program includes tutorials with the residency curator, gallery and atelier visits, and an Open Day for presenting work developed during the stay. Applicants are evaluated based on the strength of their practice and their potential to engage with the program's emphasis on dialogue, experimentation, and interdisciplinary exchange.
