Han Nefkens Foundation's Decade of Video Art Patronage and Global Collaboration

Established in 2009 in Barcelona by Han Nefkens, the Han Nefkens Foundation champions video art through partnerships with more than 50 institutions and offers grants. It provides USD 15,000 for emerging artists and commissions ranging from USD 100,000 to USD 120,000 for those with established careers, collaborating with prominent museums worldwide. Each institution receives a copy of the commissioned piece. Jury meetings focused on consensus guide the selection process. The inaugural South Asian Video Art Production Grant was awarded to Shahana Rajani for her exhibition "In drawing, in remembrance" at Para Site, Hong Kong. Nefkens' philanthropic efforts began with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and the Foundation promotes transparency and collaborative support without claiming ownership of artworks.
