Hamburg Days: Beatles BBC series casts Adolescence star Christine Tremarco

Christine Tremarco, a Bafta-winning actress recognized for her role in Adolescence, is set to join the cast of Hamburg Days, a BBC drama in six parts that explores the Beatles' early years in Hamburg, Germany. Production for the series commenced in May in both Germany and Liverpool, charting the band's evolution from local teens in Liverpool to worldwide superstars. The 49-year-old Tremarco will portray Mimi Smith, John Lennon's aunt. Asa Butterfield, 29, takes on the role of manager Brian Epstein, while Jonny Lee Miller, 53, plays Jim McCartney, Paul’s father. Other cast members include Rhys Mannion as Lennon, Ellis Murphy as McCartney, and Harvey Brett as George Harrison. The series is written by Jamie Carragher, known for Succession, and directed by Christian Schwochow of The Crown fame. Music supervision is by Bafta-winning David Holmes. The Beatles played over 250 shows in Hamburg from 1960 to 1962. The series will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with the release date yet to be announced. Additionally, four Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes are currently in the works, featuring Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson, and Joseph Quinn.
