Hajime Sorayama's Retrospective and Exhibition Presence in Tokyo Showcases Iconic Robotic Art

Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, known for his distinctive 'Sexy Robots' series, is currently featured in two significant Tokyo exhibitions. For approximately five decades, Sorayama has cultivated a unique artistic approach centered on these chrome-plated female figures. The robots possess highly reflective, polished surfaces that capture images of observers and their environments. Initially created using airbrush techniques, the artist later transitioned to producing three-dimensional works in mirror-finished aluminum and stainless steel. During the mid-2010s, Sorayama expanded his practice by developing life-sized versions through digital design and partnerships with technical experts and manufacturing facilities.
