H&P Architects' Flying Vegetation House Integrates Urban Agriculture into Thai Binh City Residence

In December 2022, the architectural firm H&P Architects completed a residential project called Flying Vegetation in Thai Binh city, Vietnam. This innovative building features a striking facade made of terracotta pots within a lightweight steel framework, acting as a green barrier. This living wall improves light quality, reduces dust, and enhances airflow while offering beautiful views. The design team, which includes Doan Thanh Ha and others, created a flexible system that allows easy maintenance of each pot in a metal holder. By using clay pots and brick, they maintain a traditional aesthetic. Inside, light filters through the leaves and ceramics, and a small courtyard connects the indoor space with nature. Residents can grow plants on the facade, promoting urban agriculture, while the project’s photography was done by Le Minh Hoang.
