Gustave Fayet, Forgotten Collector and Artist, Gets Major Paris Retrospective
From October 9, 2026, to March 8, 2027, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris will present "Gustave Fayet. Collectionneur – Créateur," showcasing over 250 pieces from Fayet's personal collection along with hundreds of his artistic works. A winegrower from Béziers, Fayet had gathered nearly 740 artworks by the time of his passing in 1925, featuring renowned artists such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, Degas, Cézanne, Renoir, Signac, Matisse, and Picasso. Notable pieces in the exhibition include Van Gogh's "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear" and Gauguin's "The Yellow Christ." Additionally, the exhibition will highlight 325 of Fayet's own creations, with a digital catalogue of his collection set to launch online in October 2026.
