GUR. Studio Designs BLUO Cafe in China with Maritime-Inspired Minimalist Interior

Albanian architectural practice GUR. Studio has completed BLUO Bar & Cafe in China, creating a minimalist interior inspired by maritime themes. The design features a strong contrast between deep blue surfaces and warm terracotta elements, representing the meeting of sea and sky. The space is conceived as a single continuous volume where furniture and structural components appear integrated with walls and floors. Large windows allow natural light to transform the atmosphere throughout the day, changing the cafe from a bright morning venue to a moody evening lounge. The project emphasizes geometric precision and intentional lines, with furniture treated as extensions of the architectural language. BLUO blurs boundaries between functional hospitality space and gallery-like installation, reflecting a global trend of reimagining cafes as sites for curated visual experiences. The design prioritizes a cohesive narrative over generic trends, creating a distinctive destination through elemental color harmony and material juxtaposition.
