Grass+Batz Completes Narrow Beach House in Zapallar

architecture-design · 2026-07-05

Grass+Batz Arquitectos has completed Casa Taller Zapallar, a 360 m² house in Zapallar, Chile, in 2023. The design responds to site constraints by taking the form of a long, narrow block perpendicular to the coastline, positioned on the flat part of the terrain. This orientation allows protected ocean views without being seen by neighbors to the west and northwest. The project was led by architects Diego Grass and Thomas Batzenschlager, with collaboration from José Hassi, structural engineering by MÁS Estudio de Ingeniería, and construction by Constructora NEVE Ltda. Photography is by Estudio Palma. The house was curated by Clara Ott.
