The Glyptotek in Copenhagen will open 'The Power of Fashion in the Roman Empire' on 1 October 2026, marking the museum's largest special exhibition on antiquity. The show unites the museum's collection of Roman sculpture with international loans, exploring the links between power and fashion over 2,000 years. Based on the museum's research on colour and ancient dress, it presents findings on clothing, perfumes, jewellery, and hairstyles used by those in power. Covering over 1,000 m2, the exhibition appeals to the senses with custom-made scents, research-based colours, textile scenography, and audio narratives. This is the world's first exhibition on this theme, making it a landmark event in the study of ancient fashion.
