other · 2026-07-10

The latest Global Peace Index reveals a world growing less peaceful, with AI enabling armies to kill more efficiently and cheaply. Over 181,000 people died in conflicts in 2025, and 117 million were displaced. Global military spending hit a record US$2.9 trillion, and the economic cost of violence reached US$21.8 trillion (10.5% of global GDP). The report predicts continued deterioration due to Trumpian bellicosity, chronic conflict in sub-Saharan Africa, and rapid AI deployment in warfare.
