Glasstire's Art Dirt Podcast Examines Institutional Critique in Texas Art

On the latest Art Dirt podcast, Brandon Zech, the publisher of Glasstire, teams up with Guest Editor Lucia Simek to explore Texas artists and collectives that critique institutions. As part of Glasstire's 25th anniversary celebration, they examine how this critique often involves performance and creates discomfort, especially since artists depend on these institutions. Simek sums up the challenge, saying, “To challenge an institution, you often need its support, creating a love-hate relationship.” This episode fits with October's theme of Institutional Critique: Considering Power Structures. You can listen through the embedded player, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify. Additionally, Glasstire has launched its first Annual Fund to improve its coverage of Texas art.
