Glass Tile Pavilion in Golbardo Reinterprets Traditional Construction Systems

A new architectural project titled 'Pabellón de tejas de vidrio' (Glass Tile Pavilion) has been developed in Golbardo. The project is led by architects Héctor Navarro, ARKHITEKTON, Rodia Valladares, and Ana María Flor, with Laura Fernández serving on the design team. Curated by Valentina Díaz, this mixed-use architecture project covers 200 square meters and is scheduled for completion in 2026. Photographer William Mulvihill documented the project, which utilizes materials from Cobert tiles. The architectural intervention focuses on reinterpreting traditional building methods rather than incorporating complex technology. The central design feature, called 'Tejar cielo,' involves creating an active roof plane using a single system that combines opaque ceramic tiles with glass tiles. This approach maintains the geometric and construction logic of the structure while transforming the roof from a simple covering into a functional device. The roof filters natural light, records the passage of time, and creates changing atmospheric conditions within the protected space. The project demonstrates how conventional construction systems can be adapted to generate new spatial, environmental, and programmatic possibilities.
