Giuseppe Di Morabito Resort 2027: Veils, Crystals, and Barthesian Dispersal

Giuseppe Di Morabito presented his Resort 2027 collection, titled “The Parts We Keep,” inspired by Roland Barthes’s A Lover's Discourse. The collection explores what survives a relationship, with all models' faces covered by scarves, hoods, hats, masks, or sunglasses. Key garments include a brown suede scarf knotted low, a pinstripe blazer with a hooded lapel, an ostrich-feather hat, and a black nappa mask blindfolded with roses. Di Morabito introduced silk chiffon for the first time, used in a balloon dress in oyster silk and baby pink. A calla lily cast in steel appeared as an earring and hip clasp. Crystal work, a house signature, debuted in a sage crystal-mesh halter with a train and as a mini dress. Tailoring innovations include a rigid cropped jacket, exaggerated balloon trousers and shorts, leg-of-mutton sleeves on jackets without natural shoulders, and denim turned inside out. The collection also features the first slim cigarette trousers. Di Morabito described the collection as a coherent vocabulary of menswear tailoring, corsets, crystals, and lace, framed by Barthes's idea of dispersal and maturity in deciding what to keep.
