Giulia Foïs Publishes Feminist Choral Novel 'Les filles de la librairie'

Journalist and essayist Giulia Foïs has released her debut novel 'Les filles de la librairie' with Flammarion. The choral narrative follows Maud and Malika, owners of the feminist bookstore 'Les affranchies' in Nice, from its inauguration to a burial on the Paillon riverbanks. The story features about twenty characters and addresses feminist solidarity and engagement. Foïs discussed the book with Nathalie Amar on RFI. The episode also included a segment on singer Chavela Vargas, a pioneer of Mexican ranchera who broke gender and sexuality norms, and a report by Solène Gardré on the Lee Miller exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris.
