German entrepreneur Thomas Riedel acquires cinema technology company Arri

Thomas Riedel, a German entrepreneur and founder of Riedel Communications, has personally acquired Arri, the motion picture technology firm established in 1917, ensuring it remains under German ownership. Renowned for its cinema cameras, lighting solutions, and lenses, Arri’s management will continue to operate from Munich. This acquisition is expected to foster strategic ties between Arri and the Riedel Group, improving access to Arri’s video workflow technology. In a month, Arri's camera technology will be featured at the Eurovision Song Contest. Speculation about the sale arose in August 2023 due to challenges in the industry.
