Georgia Tech School Show Features Biodegradable Footwear and Wearable Health Monitors

Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Industrial Design presented a range of student projects including biodegradable footwear made from tulip poplar offcuts and recycled wool. The shoe, named Tulip by Zoe Mocklar, uses biodegradable adhesives and is designed for women in professional settings. Other projects include FlowState by Flynn Coyne, a wearable device that monitors hydration, blood alcohol concentration, and blood oxygen levels at festivals; Daydreamr by Vu Ly, a floor lamp that projects distant scenes to transform room ambiance; and Verity, a visual compensation system for flat-light skiing conditions. Additional projects feature an AR device for cyclists, a side table for cascading plants, an adjustable eyewear solution for rural Guatemala, and a welcome kit for Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlanta. The school show highlights the program's focus on human-centered design, health, and sustainability.
