George Washington University students design theatre mirroring performance's emotional arc
The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University in Washington, DC, has presented a collection of student work from its Interior Architecture BFA programme's Capstone Studio. Featured in a Dezeen School Show, the projects encompass a performing arts centre, a hair salon, an omakase restaurant, a fine dining Chinese establishment, a communal housing initiative, an urban winery, a bookstore cafe, a workplace inspired by Danish design, a community market, and a museum. AJ Jones designed the performing arts centre, which integrates the university's dance and theatre programs in Foggy Bottom, with a design reflecting the emotional journey of performance. Other highlights include Hairitage by Brianna Cole, Kairo by Fiona Sekerke, and The Silk Road by Justin Liang. Douglas Crawford and Melina Misri guided the students, and the exhibition is a collaboration between Dezeen and George Washington University.
