Gasworks expands international residencies to underrepresented regions

Gasworks, the London-based contemporary art organization, is expanding its international residency programme to include artists from Palestine, Iran, the Caribbean, Canada, and other regions previously underrepresented. Established in 1994, the programme now supports 20 non-UK artists annually for up to three months in London. Recent additions include Ana Gzirishvili (Georgia), Anastasia Pavlou (Greece), Omar Mismar (Lebanon), and Asma Ben Aissa (Tunisia). New partnerships include a Palestinian Residency Patrons Circle, a three-year collaboration with B Street Collaborative and The Canadian Art Foundation, and open calls for Caribbean and Iranian artists. Upcoming residents are Dina Mimi (Jerusalem) and Eve Tagny (Montreal), in residence from 7 July to 21 September 2026. Director Robert Leckie emphasized the programme's role in supporting artists facing mobility barriers. The residencies are self-led and process-based, focusing on research and networking rather than finished works. Gasworks also hosts four annual exhibitions and provides studios for London-based artists including Racheal Crowther, Zeinab Saleh, and Earshot.
