Gandy Gallery Presents Group Portraiture Exhibition with El-Hassan, Hajn, Strail

exhibition · 2026-06-16

Gandy Gallery has announced a new group exhibition featuring portraits by Roza El-Hassan, Alva Hajn, and Václav Strail. The show presents three sequences and six appearances, aiming to foster a sense of place through sensitivity. The works create echoes, tensions, and resonances, each standing alone while finding extended meaning in the encounter. Roza El-Hassan (b. 1966), a dual Hungarian/Syrian artist, is internationally recognized for exhibitions and social design projects. Her recent solo shows include Museum Vojvodina in Novi Sad, Serbia (2017); Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp (2017); Kunstraum Riehen in Basel with Martha Rosler (2016); Kunstmuseum Basel (2012); and Secession in Vienna (2000). She has participated in group exhibitions at Moderna Museet in Stockholm (2017); Sharjah Art Foundation (2015); Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Hungary (2015); and mumok in Vienna.
