Gagosian Opens New Uptown Gallery with Duchamp Readymades Exhibition
On April 25, Gagosian gallery will unveil its new location in Uptown New York City, showcasing an exhibition of Marcel Duchamp's readymades. This display includes replicas from a limited edition set produced in 1964 by dealer Arturo Schwarz. The series was first introduced in the U.S. during a 1965 exhibition at Cordier & Ekstrom Gallery, located at 980 Madison Avenue. Following the sale of its previous building to Bloomberg Philanthropies in 2024, Larry Gagosian secured a ground-level space at the same address, where the gallery has operated since 1989. This exhibition aligns with Duchamp's first retrospective in the U.S. in over 50 years at the Museum of Modern Art, featuring key works such as "Fountain," "Bicycle Wheel," and "L.H.O.O.Q."
