Gagosian Gallery Hosts Richard Artschwager's Editioned Sculptures at Burlington Arcade

Gagosian Gallery is currently showcasing an exhibition titled 'Approximate Objects,' featuring sculptural multiples by the late American artist Richard Artschwager (1923–2013). The display, running from March 18 to April 17, includes sixteen editioned works produced between 1969 and 2012, installed across the ground and upper levels of the gallery's location at Burlington Arcade. A reading room on the lower floor presents a curated assortment of the artist's publications and prints. Artschwager focused on creating accessible art through these multiples, which accompanied his one-of-a-kind paintings and sculptures. Many of the editions were fabricated in his studio and distributed by publishers such as Brooke Alexander, Carolina Nitsch, Multiples Inc., and Castelli Graphics. The exhibition also features artist's proofs and prototypes, highlighting the iterative nature of his practice. This presentation offers a comprehensive look at Artschwager's commitment to making art more available to the public, underscoring his influence in contemporary sculpture.
