Gaetano Fracassio Returns to Milan with a 50-Year Retrospective

After fifteen years, Gaetano Fracassio returns to Galleria Gli Eroici Furori in Milan with a solo exhibition spanning five decades of his artistic practice. Curated by Silvia Agliotti with a text by Emanuele Beluffi, the show brings together works on canvas and paper from five distinct periods: Cosmogonie, Ipertesti, Stanze vuote, Attese/Riflessioni, and Memento Vita. The installation proceeds in reverse chronological order, starting with recent works and moving back to pieces from Fracassio's adolescence. Born in Bitonto in 1961, Fracassio lived in Milan for many years before returning to Puglia. A self-taught artist, his imagery includes crooked houses, intimate refuges, fragile boats in metaphorical seas, and objects resembling soul archaeology. Agliotti describes him as a total author who moves from painting to directing, photography, and spatial construction, noting a transformation from a stationary traveler to someone who has begun to walk through the world, now incorporating the light of the South. Beluffi calls the exhibition a living anthology and an autobiography in images that confronts the viewer with the same artist continuously interrogating the world through signs, forms, and metaphors. The exhibition runs until May 23, 2026.
