Gabrielle Goliath to Present Gaza Memorial Work at Venice Biennale After South African Pavilion Cancellation
Artist Gabrielle Goliath will independently present three new suites of her performance project 'Elegy' during the upcoming 61st Venice Biennale. Her original proposal for the South African Pavilion was previously canceled. The work, which mourns victims in Gaza, will be hosted at the historic Chiesa di Sant'Antonin in Castello, with support from the Bertha Foundation and London art space Ibraaz. In other news, curator Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena has been appointed creative director at the forthcoming Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx. Additionally, artists Tomashi Jackson, Lucy Kim, and Yu-Wen Wu received the 2026 Wagner Arts Fellowship, each awarded $75,000 unrestricted grants.
