Gabriele Basilico Photographs Aldo Rossi's Architecture

A new book titled 'Gabriele Basilico fotografa Aldo Rossi' explores the intersection of photography and architecture through the works of photographer Gabriele Basilico and architect Aldo Rossi. Published by Humboldt Books in 2026, the volume includes texts by Basilico, Rossi, Chiara Spangaro, and Pier Paolo Tamburelli, and is produced in collaboration with the Archivio Gabriele Basilico and Fondazione Aldo Rossi. The book examines two approaches: photography of architecture, where the building is the subject, and architecture of photography, where the image organizes space and constructs relationships between masses and voids. Both Basilico and Rossi shared a background in architecture, but applied it differently—Basilico as both photographer and architect, Rossi as architect and theorist.
