Furious: Hulu and Disney+ thriller explores female rage and justice

The new Hulu and Disney+ series 'Furious', created by Elizabeth Meriwether (New Girl, Dying for Sex), premieres July 27 with three episodes, followed by weekly releases until August 31. Starring Emmy Rossum (Shameless) as FBI agent Alice Black and Lola Petticrew (No digas nada) as serial killer Catherine, the show examines female rage, obsession, and moral ambiguity. At a July 15 press conference, Meriwether stated she never wanted viewers to feel comfortable deciding who is right. Rossum expressed fascination with what drives a woman to kill repeatedly, noting she found herself identifying with the killer. Petticrew linked the series' title to the Greek Furies, emphasizing that female rage is a historical and structural experience. The show features Quincy Tyler Bernstine as Nora. Rossum argued that obsession is necessary for extreme dedication, citing meetings with FBI agents. The series explores themes of institutional distrust, systemic violence against women, and the impossibility of perfect justice, rejecting simplistic narratives of good versus evil.
