Fundació Suñol pairs Miquel Navarro's clay cities with AI-driven housing models

Fundació Suñol in Barcelona presents 'Del barro a la IA', an exhibition juxtaposing Miquel Navarro's ceramic cityscapes with 'Recycling Intelligences', an AI-driven installation by Julia Campomaggi, Lluís Ortega, and Enrique Romero. The latter, originally created for the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, uses a GAN trained on Spanish social housing projects to generate 370 3D-printed models on a 12-square-meter table, exploring machine learning's potential for housing design. Navarro's works—including 'Torre Avenida' (1975–1976), 'Fábrica amb laberint' (1978), and 'Bou embolat' (1979, shown at the Guggenheim New York in 1980)—offer a poetic, ancestral vision of architecture rooted in the industrial and agricultural past of his hometown Mislata. The exhibition runs until July 17 and is part of Barcelona Capital Mundial de la Arquitectura 2026, a program involving over 170 entities. The Suñol Soler Collection, founded by Josep Suñol Soler, underpins the show.
