Fundació Joan Miró to Host Major Charlotte Perriand Retrospective
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona will present a significant retrospective dedicated to designer Charlotte Perriand during the 2023-2024 academic year. This exhibition, organized in collaboration with Kunstmuseen Krefeld and Museum der Moderne Salzburg, is backed by Cassina, Louis Vuitton, and the BBVA Foundation. It will showcase Perriand's close relationship with architect Josep Lluís Sert, whom she first encountered in 1928. Notably, Perriand hosted Sert during the Spanish Civil War and was present at the Fundació's opening in 1976. The exhibition will include previously unseen materials and her partnerships with Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Fernand Léger, and Jean Prouvé, reflecting her enduring legacy and commitment to modernism. Perriand passed away in 1999.
