Frost Science Expands Marine Science Access Through Your Shores Program
Frost Science continues its Your Shores initiative, which aims to increase opportunities in marine science for underrepresented Miami-Dade students. The program, launched in 2023 by the museum's MUVE and UBMS programs with NOAA funding, provides scuba certification, coastal restoration projects, and ecosystem exploration. A key challenge was students' lack of swimming skills, addressed through partnerships with Ocaquatics Swim School and Ripples of Impact, offering free lessons to 27 high school participants this summer. The effort has resulted in multiple students achieving scuba certifications, fostering environmental stewardship and career pathways.
