Frick Collection Appoints Caitlin Henningsen as Head of Education and Public Engagement

institutional · 2026-09-10

Caitlin Henningsen will become the Frick Collection's Ayesha Bulchandani Head of Education and Public Engagement, leading the museum's Education Department from September 21, 2026. The New York institution announced the appointment, placing Henningsen at the helm of a program that director Axel Rüger described as a long-standing cornerstone of the Frick's mission. Rüger, the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Director, credited a cohort of committed staff for the department's substantial evolution and growth, noting that Henningsen has played an increasingly essential role within it. Her expertise and creativity, he said, proved vital during the period following the Frick's recent renovation and reopening, as the museum reintroduced its programming and activated new purpose-built education spaces. Rüger added that the institution is thrilled her vision for engaging the public will flourish in what he called a critical leadership position. Aimee Ng, the Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator, said Henningsen distinguished herself in a highly competitive search process. The appointment carries the Ayesha Bulchandani name, a named endowed title attached to the education leadership post.
